Light painting during Menningarnott 2006

Strange Tribe (v15-extract) by hpsounds

This is the first track made in Iceland, since I moved to Reykjavík a couple of months ago.

Technical notes

  • The core background layered rhythms (7 layers) are done on an eurorack modular synth with the following modules : Cwejman resonator RES-4, Wiard/Malekko Noisering (output 1) as “ping” generator, Cwejman 4 phases PH-4 LFO, plus some 4ms RDC and a TipTop Audio Z8000 for additional modulations.
  • Drum part is from Microtonic plug-in drum synth and the synth bass is U-he ACE plug-in synth – both of them are triggered by a Sequentix Cirklon hardware sequencer.
  • Delay and reverb are from an Eventide Eclipse.
  • Structured, recorded and produced on Ableton Live software.

Here is the last version of my modular synthesizer. I’ve slimed it down because I’m moving. Stay tune !

    Cwejman RES-4 demo

    Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Here is a short demo of the Cwejman RES-4 Quad VC Resonators module I did a few months ago (I’ve just forgot to post it …).

This patch involve 3 intermodulating oscillators (Wiard Oscillator in LFO mode, Wiard Anti-Oscillator as a modulator, Tiptop Audio Z3000 as a modulator), which are filtered by a Wiard Boogie filter, itself modulated by the Wiard Oscilator.

12 dB/oct output of the Boogie filter is connected to the Cwejman RES-4. The tip was to modulate two bands of the RES-4 by an envelope (Wiard Envelator), which is trigged by a pulse rhythm created with the Intellijel uStep (clock signal is provided by the End output of a Bananalogue Serge VCS).

EFX processing through a nice Eventide Eclipse patch ;-) which give a Steve ROACH’s like sound (IMO).

How to calibrate a Cwejman VCO-6 oscillator ?

    Friday, September 18th, 2009

I’m back from Iceland since a week and it was a pleasure to power on my modular analog synth after a 8 weeks travel. I detected then a tuning and scaling problem between my Tiptop Audio Z3000 and my Cwejman VCO-6 oscillators. The Cwejman was OK but it didn’t track on the same way. I tried to calibrate and retuned the Cwejman oscillator, but without knowledge I failed. Some I asked Wowa Cwejman for some helps !

Now my Cwejman oscillators are perfectly calibrated and tuned. Here are his advices: ;-)
